Security Surveys

Trained officers are available to come to your home or business to conduct security surveys. The officers will determine physical and procedural risks and offer cost-effective recommendations to improve security.

Operation Identification

You engrave your Pennsylvania Driver's/Operator's License Number on your personal property. Then you place a small Operation I.D. decal on exterior doors and windows warning housebreakers that all valuables on the premises are marked for easy identification. Everyone is urged to participate. The program is designed to help protect your business as well as your home. Electric engravers are available for loan, free of charge, so that you may engrave your personal belongings to deter theft and facilitate the return of stolen property. We also provide Operation I.D. stickers.

Tours

Tours of City Hall and the Police Department are available for interested groups of adults or children

Crime Watch

A program involving the joint efforts of the police department and the community designed to enhance neighborhood security, heighten the community's power of observation and to encourage mutual assistance and concern among neighbors.

There are twelve (12) Crime Watch areas designated for the city. Pairs of volunteers patrol these areas and report any observed crimes or suspicious activity to a base station located in the police department by two-way radio. The base station is operated by volunteers under police guidance.

Regular meeting of the Crime Watch groups are conducted to provide crime prevention education and to have an exchange of information between the community and the police.

Crime Prevention Literature

The Crime Prevention Unit has pamphlets, booklets and other literature available on a wide range of security, safety, and crime topics.
