Goals 2007 for Fire & EMS Department


• Begin and substantially complete building of a new fire station in Schlegel Park to replace aging Oakbrook & Liberty stations (Cost $1.5M)..

• Replacement of the Rescue Truck and two pumpers, funded by a 5-year CIP Bond (Cost $1.4M).

• Continue to improve EMS financial performance with the goal of self-sufficiency (Revenue increased 5% ($122,000) during 2006).

• Reduce firefighter and civilian injuries by 10% (Civilian injuries dropped 24%, and firefighter injuries 42% in 2006)

• Continue to achieve a four-minute response time to at least 80% of calls (This was achieved 83.1% of the time in 2006).

• Reduce fire incidents by 3% by continued aggressive fire prevention practices and fire code enforcement (Number of fire incidents dropped 2.5% during 2006).
